The e-mail mailbox is one of the biggest incidence to your PC. To out sky users to overlay, company names are often used as sender. For a long time, Microsoft was at the top of the list, but now it is DHL according to the check Point. Around 23% of all mails with brand-phishing use this name. Gladly false DHL messages are sent by SMS!
The clever phishing attacks are aimed at users who have just ordered something. After clicking on the link in the message, you will be prompted to enter your access data - a fatal error. So the attackers arrive at their account data.
Through three major characteristics, they recognize such fake messages:
- Sender address: No unofficial domain, but about absender@dhl-info.DE
- Impress Salutation: Lieder Customer or Hall
- Urgency: E-mail challenges you for quick action
Even obvious grammatical errors can be a feature, but the scammers will always be cleverer in the methodology and use better translation tools for their spam.
Phishing protection via antivirus
If you click on a phishing link, an antivirus may recognize the opening website as fake before entering your access data. But how well virus scanners actually protect them? These have studied the specialists of AV Comparative in a test.
For this purpose, over 260 current phishing websites were used as a reference. In a second passage, the virus scanners 250 clean online banking websites were set. The goal: The virus scanners should not with unnecessary false-alarms nerves.
The conditions for the test were very practical: tested under Windows 10 with standard settings of the virus scanner. The protection programs had Internet access, were allowed to draw updates and also make cloud queries, as the most users should be the case.
